The History of Christianity: From the Disciples to the Dawn of the Reformation

11am Sunday St. Francis Room

Led by Marilyn Madsen

Theme: The Divine Comedy by Dante – a video course in three parts. We will take a tour of one of the greatest works ever written. This work had a effect on how later folks think about Hell and Heaven and uses the combined riches of the biblical and classical traditions. Dante is a geographer of the cosmos and a student of the soul. His range spans not only the heights of heaven and the depths of hell but also the recesses of the human heart.

Reading the Divine Comedy is not required for the course but will increase your experience. We will study each section of the Divine Comedy and take a break for a few weeks, so it is not so overwhelming. The introduction starts on June 2, with the actual beginning of the Inferno on June 30 (assuming individual classes are not canceled due to other church events).

Sunday mornings at 11 in the St. Francis Room.
